The STEP-BY-STEP project is an Erasmus+ Small-scale Partnership that aims to enhance the physical and mental well-being of elderly individuals through the practice of Argentine Tango. Designed for seniors aged 65 and over, as well as adults over 50 with reduced mobility or mild neurodegenerative conditions, the initiative uses dance as a tool for social inclusion and health promotion.
The project brings together three young associations from Spain (Asociación Socio-Cultural Abrazos en Movimiento), Italy (A.S.D. New International), and France (Lyon Tango Festival), supported by an expert SME (Consulta Europa). Key objectives include:
- Providing structured tango training to at least 78 seniors across Europe.
- Training 12 staff members and volunteers in specialised methodologies for elderly populations.
- Organising six public performances to showcase participants’ achievements and foster community engagement.
- Developing a sustainable and replicable model, including a Handbook on Teaching Tango for Active Ageing and video tutorials.
Budget: 60.000 €
