URBAN WASTE next steps: second Steering Committee and Mutual Learning event in Florence

Time for the second Steering Committee physical meeting and for the second Mutual Learning event of the H2020 project “URBAN WASTE” has come. On Tuesday 13th December 2016, the project’s Steering Committee will gather in Florence (IT), one among the 11 pilot cases of this project. The other pilot cases are Nice (FR), Lisbon (PT), Syracuse (IT), Copenhagen (DK), Kavala (GR), Santander (ES), Nicosia (CY), Ponta Delgada (PT), Dubrovnik county (HR), Tenerife (ES). The Steering Committee is responsible for the smooth development and management of the project and it will take this occasion to speak about the state of the art of the work and the next steps and deadlines to be accomplished.
Moreover, the second Mutual Learning event will take place: interested stakeholders’ and citizens’ participation in encouraged on the morning of the 14th of December, when an open conference about gender issues in environment, with a focus on waste prevention and management, will take place. The objective is to engage citizens and relevant stakeholders coming from businesses, research institutions and the civil society, in a discussion and debate on these topics, to raise awareness on waste production paths and waste management practices and on the modalities in which gender influence those. The afternoon will be then dedicated to case studies report and discussion. The meeting in Florence will be an important milestone in the project advance, since the participatory approach will be put into practice to mobilize and involve citizens and stakeholder on waste management and prevention issues.
