Strategies for territorial development

The territorial model that we propose is focused on the key elements: social innovation, participatory approach and circular economy. These elements will contribute to the moulding of the future of our societies and economies in the forthcoming years

The Circular Economy is an innovative and disruptive paradigm which is little by little taking over the production and consumption linear model which has defined our process ever since the Industrial Revolution. The linear paradigm is clearly unsustainable in a world of limited natural resources. The “circular economy”, however, enshrines sustainability, as its essential feature is to be designed as restorative.

Social Innovation refers to the development of new and innovative business ideas which match social needs. They tend to improve the living conditions of the individuals, communities and eventually our planet. “Social innovation” resides in each step of the “circular economy” and is the technological trigger thanks to the introduction of new business models adapted to the sustainable way to produce added value.

Both concepts -circular economy and social innovation- share the involvement of the citizens who actively participate in these movements and co-create projects, initiatives with others actors, following a multi-actor approach.

Our mission consists in the identification of these new and innovative business models, on short term as transition period as well as on long term. We are studying the various initiatives and practices meant to help social entrepreneurs and the policy makers designing more efficient social innovation policies. Consulta Europa has recently been interested on the understanding of how the participative approach can improve the functioning and can be promoted by the civil society and the public administration.
